A fairly common question is how to turn on bluetooth on a computer. And the thing is that there is no button on the keyboard of a stationary personal computer that would turn on the wireless communication module. The laptop is more convenient in this respect. How, then, can it be turned on and off? How to set up bluetooth?

Connection

It should be noted that desktop personal computers do not include such communication modules in their design by default. How then to make the bluetooth work on the computer? It's very easy: you just need to purchase a separate module and connect it. There are two types of devices:

  • external;
  • internal.

The first is connected via a USB port like a flash card. The second is a little more difficult: you need to open the case of the system unit and insert the module into the connector on the motherboard. An untrained user prefers the first option. Well, iron lovers will like the second. It should be mentioned that the slot into which the communication module is inserted must be of the PCI type. These connectors are usually found on the bottom half of the motherboard and at the back of the case.

Driver Installation

After everything is done, you need to turn on the computer. When the operating system boots, a message should appear stating that new hardware has been found. Now you need to insert the disc that should be included with the device.

This disk contains a driver that needs to be installed for the device to function correctly. Of course, the driver can be found on the Internet, but for this you need to know the full name of the device. With a disc, everything is much easier. So, now there is bluetooth on the computer. Then you can proceed to enabling and configuring it.

Activation of the communication module on a personal computer

As mentioned earlier, there is no special button on the desktop computer keyboard that is responsible for turning on the bluetooth adapter. But there are other ways to activate it. It is noteworthy that by default the adapter will work continuously. So you will rather need to disable it, rather than enable it. There are two ways to do this:

  • through the "Equipment Manager";
  • through the module settings.

Enabling through the "Hardware Manager"

For the first method, you first need to press the Win + R key combination. A window will appear where in the line you need to write the command devmgmt.msc and press Enter. The operating system will launch the required tool. Here you need to find a bluetooth device, which is most likely among the network adapters. As soon as it is found, you need to click on it with the right mouse button and select the item responsible for enabling and disabling. Bluetooth on the computer will be activated or deactivated.

Enabling via settings

In addition, you can use the adapter on a personal computer directly through its settings. After the drivers are installed, a corresponding icon will appear in the operating system tray (lower right corner on the desktop). If you right-click on it, a menu will open, in which you can see several items:

  • adding a device;
  • equipment overview;
  • opening parameters;
  • disabling and enabling the adapter;
  • removing an icon from the tray.

You just need to choose the required action.

Adding a new device

Before you can start transferring files or using wireless for anything else, you need to connect the equipment you want to your personal computer. How to do it? It's pretty simple. First, you need to open the adapter settings and check the box that allows you to detect this computer. In the "Sharing" tab, you need to check the box that allows sending and receiving files. Now you need to enable discovery on the connected device. How to do this should be stated in the instructions for the equipment. Next, right-click on the tray icon again and select the "Add device" item.

The system will automatically search for all available connections and then provide a list of them. The user only has to choose the device that he wants to connect. After selection, the "Next" button is pressed. In accordance with the step-by-step instructions, the process is completed.
