Random access memory (random access memory - RAM) is an integral part of any computer. It is intended for temporary storage of information while the computer is running. To choose the right RAM, you need to pay attention to its characteristics.

Pay attention to the type of memory. At the moment, the more common standards are DDR2 and DDR3 - the latter has improved characteristics, consumes less power.

Pay attention to the peak memory bandwidth or memory standard. The current range is from PC-133 to PC3-16000. It is desirable that the bandwidth of the total RAM matches the bandwidth of the processor installed on your computer. When two memory modules are installed, the work will take place in two-channel mode (the bandwidth is doubled), while the main thing is that the speed of the two modules is the same.
Step 3
Pay attention to the amount of RAM - from 512 MB to 12 GB. The more memory you have, the faster your computer will run (i.e. faster to perform many operations at the same time). If you plan to use your future computer for solving typical tasks, then 1-2 GB of memory will be enough. A gaming computer requires more space - from 4 GB. To edit "heavy" audio, photo, video files, more RAM is also required.
