Archives are a convenient way to store large amounts of information. In order to ensure the security of the stored information, passwords are used when creating them. In the process of unzipping the information in order to open the files contained in them, you must enter a password.
Necessary
- - a password-protected archive (for example, using the WinRAR archiver);
- - WinRAR archiver;
- - a password or a program for recovering passwords (for example, AAPR (Advanced Archive Password Recovery).
Instructions
Step 1
Install the archiver on your computer. Then right-click on the password-protected archive. Create or select a folder where you will extract files from the archive. After a window appears prompting you to enter the password for the protected file. If you have a password, enter it and click OK. The time for unpacking the archive depends on the size of the file and the performance of the computer.
Step 2
If you do not have a password, and the archive was downloaded from the Internet, then look at the password on the site from which it was downloaded. The site may contain instructions for finding a password.
Step 3
Launch the Advanced Archive Password Recovery (AAPR) program. In the Encrypted ZIP / RAR / ACE / ARJ-file window that opens, specify the path to the location where the archive is located. In the Type of attack list, specify the way the program will search for the password for the archive. On the Length tab, specify the minimum and maximum password length.
Step 4
When choosing a brute-force method, select the characters used for the search (numbers, letters, or letters with numbers) and the search range. In addition, select the start and end value of the search.
Step 5
When choosing a method for brute-force passwords in the dictionary (Dictionary), it can be done both using the dictionary built into the program (the Dictionary file path line will indicate the path to the text file in the ARCHPR folder), or using any other dictionary that you can select by clicking the Select dictionary file button.
