The Basic Input / Output System, or BIOS, is used to boot a computer and gives the operating system access to its hardware resources. If the computer has a video camera, but for some reason does not work, you should check if it is enabled in the BIOS.
Instructions
Step 1
The BIOS is entered at the moment the computer starts booting. Most often, pressing the Del key is used for this, the corresponding inscription appears at the bottom of the screen: Press Del to enter setup. Other keys can also be used - for example, F1, F2, F3, F10, Esc or the combination Ctrl + alt="Image" + Esc.
Step 2
If you succeed in entering the BIOS, you will see a blue or gray window with several tabs. Find the Advanced section and navigate to it using the Right and Left keys. In this section, select the Onboard Device Configuration item.
Step 3
Find the Onboard Camera line in Onboard Device Configuration. Next to it, the value should be set to Enabled. If Disabled is displayed, set the desired value using the Up and Down keys.
Step 4
Save the changed settings. To do this, press F10 or select the Save and exit setup item. In the window that appears, confirm the saving of changes by entering Y and pressing Enter. After rebooting, the operating system should see the camera.
Step 5
If the camera is enabled in the BIOS, but still does not work, look for the Install OS item in the BIOS and set the Finish value next to it. If Start is selected instead of Finish, the camera will not work.
Step 6
In the event that you do not find many settings in the BIOS, then you most likely see an incomplete version. Try pressing Ctrl + F1 to display all the information.
Step 7
Very often, camera problems are not related to the BIOS, but to the lack of necessary drivers. Check if Windows can see the camera, to do this, right-click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop and select "Properties" from the context menu, then "Hardware" - "Device Manager". Look for a device with a yellow exclamation mark or question mark. Double click on it, select the "Driver" tab and click the "Reinstall driver" button.
