The network card installed on the computer is usually connected and working normally. But in some cases, it may be disabled in the BIOS settings or in the operating system settings. In this case, the network card must be turned on.
Instructions
Step 1
If you know for sure that the computer has a network card, but the operating system does not see it, you should check the BIOS settings. Restart your computer, at system start press Del or F2. To enter the BIOS, other keys can also be used - Esc, F1, F11, F12, it depends on the computer model.
Step 2
In the BIOS window that opens, find the section in which the word Integrated is present. In it, look for the Onboard LAN Controller line or something similar in meaning - these lines may differ on different computers.
Step 3
See what value is set in front of the found line. If Disabled, then the card is really disabled. Select the Enabled option and save your changes, usually you press F10 or select Save and exit setup. After restarting the computer, the operating system should see the network card.
Step 4
It is possible that the network card is disabled in the operating system settings. Open: "Start" - "Control Panel" - "System" - "Hardware" - "Device Manager". Find the item "Network Cards". If the card is turned off, it will be marked with a red cross. To enable it, double-click it and select the option "This equipment is in use (enabled)" at the bottom of the window. Click OK, the network card will be enabled. Connect the connector to it and try to go online, everything should work.
Step 5
It may happen that the line of the network card will be marked with a yellow icon with an exclamation mark. Most likely, there are no drivers installed for the network card. Try installing them from the installation disc, if available, or search on the Internet. To reinstall, double-click the line of the network card again, select the "Driver" - "Update" tab. In the window that appears, select "Install from a list or specific location" and open the folder with the driver. Click OK, the drivers will be installed.
