Step 1
Install the modem at a point in your house where you can bring a telephone cable, and from where the wi-fi signal will be distributed to the entire room. Plug the modem into a power outlet. Next, connect a telephone cable to it. Try to choose a place that is closer to the window.
Step 2
Turn on a computer or laptop with a wi-fi adapter and launch any browser. The instructions for the modem will indicate what address and username and password it has. Enter the address (it may well be 192.168.1.1) into the line where you usually type the page address and press enter. In the dialog box that appears, enter the login and password for the modem. Make sure your wi-fi adapter is turned on and working (on some laptops it may not be active). Enter all the data correctly so that you do not need to correct everything in the future.
Step 3
After entering the modem settings page, enter the settings of your provider. Usually this is the server address of the Internet service provider, the login and password to the server, as well as the general settings of your personal home network. It is also worth changing the password for accessing the modem, setting the password for accessing computers so that lovely neighbors do not abuse your kindness.
Step 4
As practice shows, other people's access points are often used in apartments, since they have light passwords. Of course, maybe you do not mind using a modem, but no one is immune from serious consequences.
Step 5
Save the settings, check the connection on your computer. If, for some unknown reason, the computer does not see the connection to the modem, try restarting the computer, since the Windows network settings do not always work the first time. Make sure that the balance of your account with the provider is positive, the password for accessing the wi-fi modem is set. Then you can use the modem for your own purposes.
