It was especially problematic to get access to it in areas remote from the city. Today, to take advantage of the network, all you have to do is buy a modem, set it up, and you can go online within the network coverage area.

Step 1
Take the modem, read the instructions. It should contain the installation steps in an accessible language. It is important to pay attention to compatible operating systems, and you need to do this in the store. Basically, if you have Windows XP installed on your laptop, you can be sure that the modem will work without problems. When using any other operating systems - Windows 95, 98, 7, Linux - it is necessary to consult about compatibility in advance.
Step 2
Run the installation disc. The installation program is included with any computer equipment. With its help, you need to install a modem. To do this, insert the disc into the drive with the mirrored side down, and then close it. After a few seconds, a special window will appear on the monitor, symbolizing the start of installation. In parallel with this, a tooltip “found new equipment” will appear. This means that the drive has been detected. If this does not happen within a few minutes, then start the installation yourself. To do this, select: • Start (the icon on the left on the bottom panel of the monitor) • My computer (or just “computer”) A disk icon should appear among the devices with removable media. Open it by double-clicking the left mouse button or right-clicking once and select the "open" command from the pop-up menu. If the disc does not appear here, then remove it and try to start again. If this time, too, nothing came out, then either the drive is not working properly, or the removable media is damaged.
Step 3
Install the program. To do this, just follow the prompts. After the installation window has appeared, you must select the language and the root folder to save the files on the local disk, and then click the "install" button. The program will be installed automatically.
Step 4
Insert the modem into a USB port and configure the parameters for connecting to the Internet. Check with your service provider.
