Step 2
Open a web browser on your mobile computer. Go to the graphical interface of the modem settings by entering the desired IP address in the url field. Now open the Wireless Setting or Wi-Fi menu.
Step 3
Examine the parameters of the created access point. Pay attention to its following characteristics: security type (WEP, WPA or WPA-2), radio channel operating mode (802.11 g, n or b), key type (TKIP or AES).
Step 4
Disconnect the LAN cable from the modem. Open the Network and Sharing Center using the operating system of your mobile computer. Go to the "Manage Wireless Networks" menu.
Step 5
Click the Add button located on the top control panel. After starting the connection wizard, select "Create a network profile manually".
Step 6
Fill out the form provided after opening a new menu. Check if the parameters are set correctly. Check the box next to "Start this connection automatically" if you are establishing a connection to your home hotspot.
Step 7
Click the "Next" button and wait for the connection parameters to update. Open the Network and Sharing Center and view the list of active connections. Make sure your mobile computer can access the internet.
Step 8
If the used Wi-Fi modem is broadcasting a hidden SSID, then in the last menu of the settings wizard, activate the "Connect even if the network does not broadcast" item. Using the hidden name of the access point can increase the security level of the Wi-Fi modem. At the same time, this mode of operation of the device may cause incompatibility of some devices with the access point.
