To create local networks, it is customary to use network hubs, modems or routers. For stable network operation, you must be able to properly configure the above equipment.
It is necessary
Wi-Fi modem (router)
Instructions
Step 1
Let's consider the options for configuring modems (routers) from D-Link. The products of this company fell in love with our compatriots because of the ideal combination of the quality of goods and prices for them.
Step 2
As for the choice of a specific router model, this task falls entirely on your shoulders. If you plan to connect two or three computers or laptops to the device, then a budget model, for example, D-Link DIR-300, will be enough.
Step 3
Purchase a router of your choice and plug it into an electrical outlet. Connect the Internet cable to the WAN (Internet) input. Note: If your ISP provides DSL Internet services, you need to purchase an appropriate DSL modem.
Step 4
Connect any laptop or computer to the Wi-Fi router via the Ethernet (LAN) port. To do this, you need a network cable (it is included with the equipment).
Step 5
Open Internet Explorer (Mozilla, Opera, etc.) and enter the router's IP into the address bar. In our case, this address will be 192.168.0.1.
Step 6
Select the Internet Setup Wizard menu. Select the type of data transfer protocol, the required authentication option, enter your username and password. In general - configure this menu to connect to the provider's server.
Step 7
Open the Wireless Setup Wizard menu. Select the options that your wireless devices connected to the router can work with. If you do not plan to use laptops or smartphones (communicators), then this menu can not be configured at all.
Step 8
Save changes and reboot the router. In older models, this will require disconnecting power from the device. Turn on the equipment and connect other laptops and computers to it.
