To the right of the address bar in the Opera browser is a window for entering a search query. Attached to it is a drop-down list of search engines to which the browser can send the entered request, and one of them is always selected by default. If you want to change the default search engine, change their order in the list, supplement it, or vice versa shorten it, then Opera exists.

Instructions

Step 1

Expand the drop-down list in the search query field and select the very last item in it - "Customize search". The browser will open a window giving access to its settings on the "Search" tab.

Step 2

If you want to replace the default search engine with another from the list, click the row with the desired search engine in the Manage Search Services list. Then click the button located to the right of the list labeled "Edit" and the browser will open another window titled "Search Service".

Step 3

Click the "Details" button and check the "Use as default search engine" checkbox. If you want the same search engine to be used in the Express panel, then check the box "Use as Express Panel search".

Step 4

Commit the changes made to the browser settings by clicking OK in the Search Service window and then in the Settings window.

Step 5

If the search engine that needs to replace the currently used system is not in the list of browser search engines, then there are two ways to add it. The simplest one requires going to the page that contains the field for entering the search query of your new system. Click this field with the right mouse button and in the drop-down context menu select "Create search". As a result, the "Search Service" window described above will appear with partially filled fields.

Step 6

Assign a code letter to this search engine by entering it in the Key field. If necessary, change the name of the search engine in the "Name" field - it is more convenient to replace it with a shorter one. Check the boxes to use this search engine by default as described in the third step. Then click the "OK" button.

Step 7

Another way to add a new search engine involves filling in all the fields in this very window "Search Service" by yourself. To do this, open the drop-down list in the search query field next to the address bar of the browser, select the "Customize search" item and click the "Add" button. All fields that need to be filled are described in the previous steps. In addition to them, you will need to independently enter in the "Address" field the URL to which the browser should send a search request. After filling in all the fields, do not forget to click the "OK" button.
