Step 1

For remote server administration on Windows, the built-in Windows PowerShell utility is used. It serves as a processor for incoming data from another computer, the data to which is sent through the server manager, the Internet channel and its graphical shell. Also, the Windows Remote Management service takes part in the work of remote management, which must be manually activated through the Group Policy Management tool.

Step 2

Create a GPO that you need to associate with the host where the managed server resides. To do this, in the GPMC (Group Policy Management) console, launched through the appropriate menu item, right-click on the item "Group Policy Objects" opposite the desired object. Press the button "New" - "New Group Policy Object". After that, give it a name and click "OK".

Step 3

In the tree of the remote access control console, use the items "Computer settings" - "Policies" - "Administration templates" - "Components" - "Remote control" - "WinRM service". In the list of suggested options, go to the "Allow automatic listener configuration" section to enable remote access tools and configure the system to receive commands from a remote computer.

Step 4

In the list of options, specify the range of IP addresses that can be controlled remotely. Fill in the required parameters and then click Apply. Then open the menu "Computer settings" - "Policies" - "Options" - "Security settings" - "Windows Firewall with advanced settings".

Step 5

Create three rules for inbound connections: "Remote Event Log Management", "Remote Management Service", "Remote Firewall Management". You can also use the "Configure remote control" item in the remote access settings by clicking on the corresponding link in the tree of the control console. In the section that appears, check the box "Allow remote server control".

Step 6

Activate tools to manage remote administration roles, their services and functions. To do this, go to the remote administration tool and use the menu items to add the desired roles and their functions, and edit the settings for the desktop, system, network, domain, and Internet Explorer to your liking. The remote administration configuration is completed and you can connect to the server.
