The issue of connecting the SEGA joystick to the computer is relevant when you run the emulators of the Segov roms. You won't be able to play these games on the keyboard - your hands will quickly get tired.

Step 1
To get started, pick a few of the overlooked joysticks, grab the necessary tools and parts, and stock up on enthusiasm.

Next, locate the LPT port on your computer. There may not be such a connector on the outside of the case, but if you pay attention to your motherboard, you may well find it.
Step 3
Connect the appropriate plug to the LPT connector on the motherboard. Buy a plug for the LPT connector at one of the radio markets where used spare parts are sold. Perhaps you have a familiar programmer who will share spare parts.
Step 4
Next, start assembling the circuit and the equipment itself. Parallel port pins serve a variety of purposes. There are postings that are used to enter data, there are those that are designed to output information. Find the wires of the following colors: yellow - clock (CLOCK), orange is for power, blue is ground, green is latch (LATCH), blue is the control pin.
Step 5
The Clock and Latch wires control the transfer of information sequentially. Power to the joystick is supplied through one contact, and is taken from five wires. The power supply for the connectors depends on the specific joystick circuit. Power the joystick through diodes. Diodes serve as current rectifiers, that is, the diodes will pass current in one direction, and not in the other. The current will pass from the LPT port, and the diodes will not give back to it. The direction of current through a diode is usually depicted as an arrow. Solder the diodes with the arrow pointing up to the corresponding wires on the LPT schematic.

Next, connect the joystick. Joysticks have a Data cable, which is a control cable and is indicated in blue. Each joystick is unique in this regard and has its own dat pin. Please note that the diodes used must match each other in terms of resistance, do not take too powerful ones. The DB25M connector is found on older printer cables or modems. It's good if the connector is collapsible.
Step 7
Having dealt with the hardware, install the software. To do this, find a driver, for example PPJoy version 0.83. Install the driver in the usual way, then run Configure Joysticks. In the window that appears, click the Add button and set the required parameters. This will add the LPT controller.
Step 8
Next, add new equipment using the "Add Equipment Wizard". When installing, do not forget to select the "Install from a specified location" item. Specify the PPJoy folder here. The system should find the drivers and install them.
Step 9
Next, install the drivers for the HID compatible controller. Repeat the steps to install the driver, the drivers are installed from the same folder. That's it, in this way you will install the SEGA joystick on your computer.
