Every family faces the need to transport a refrigerator. Buying a new refrigerator in a home appliance store or moving to another apartment associated with the transfer of property are all fairly common everyday situations. But not everyone knows that some precautions must be taken to transport the refrigerator safely.

If you bought a new refrigerator in a store, then, most likely, the seller will take care of its delivery to the apartment. And although in most cases you will have to pay for transporting or lifting the refrigerator to the floor, you will be spared the need to think about how to transport the refrigerator in compliance with the rules. In the event of a breakdown, claims can be made to the seller.

However, if you need to transport the refrigerator yourself, then you should take precautions to prevent damage to it. In the official documentation, you will read that in order to avoid costly repairs, refrigerators should not be transported in a horizontal position, as this can lead to a breakdown of the compressor attachment to the frame, breakage of pipes, oil leakage from the compressor into the blower and clogging. Thus, the easiest and most reliable way to transport a refrigerator is to hire a tall car, for example, a GAZelle, and place the refrigerator in it vertically, or at an angle of inclination of no more than 40 °.
Step 3
However, this option is not always possible. Therefore, if you decide to transport the refrigerator horizontally, be sure to follow a few tips:
• Remove all additional items from the refrigerator.
• Place cardboard or cloth underneath.
• Place the refrigerator carefully on the back wall so as not to damage the condenser, or on the side. In the latter case, the hinges should be on top so that the door cannot open arbitrarily.
• Limit the refrigerator against possible displacements with stops, spacers and secure with soft straps.
Remember that during transportation, jolts and impacts when the refrigerator is horizontal can cause dangerous damage. The internal parts of the refrigerator are not designed for physical activity during horizontal transportation.
