Instructions

Step 1

If your computer is part of a public or work local network, then configure its settings so that other users cannot access its resources. Please note that we do not recommend using this method in cases where a network printer or MFP is connected to the computer. First, configure Windows Firewall. Open the start menu.

Step 2

Go to your computer's control panel. Open the System and Security menu (Windows Seven). Now click on the "Windows Firewall" item. In the left column of this menu, select the option "Turn Windows Firewall on or off."

Step 3

Check the boxes for next to Enable Firewall for all types of networks. This is a very important step, but it does not completely block access to the computer.

Step 4

Now open the "Network and Sharing Center" menu. It is located in the "Network and Internet" menu in the control panel. Go to Change Advanced Sharing Settings. In this menu, check the boxes next to the following items: "Disable network discovery", "Disable file and printer sharing", "Disable sharing", "Enable password protected sharing".

Step 5

Pay special attention to the last point. When activated, it will be possible to access your computer only if you enter the login and password of the account that has already been created. That is, if there is only one account on the PC, then no one else will be able to connect to your computer. If there are several such records, then delete unnecessary and unused accounts.

Step 6

After activating the above items, click the "Save changes" button. Try connecting to your computer from another PC that is part of your local network to check the protection status of your computer.
