Instructions

Step 1

Select a Wi-Fi router that has a WAN port for connecting an Internet cable. Connect this network equipment to the mains. Connect the Internet connection cable to the WAN (Internet) port.

Step 2

Now connect the network card of your computer or laptop to any LAN connector of the Wi-Fi router. For this, use the network cable that comes with the Wi-Fi router. Turn on the web browser on this computer. Enter the IP of the Wi-Fi router in its address bar. Find its value in advance in the instructions for the network equipment.

Step 3

After opening the web interface of the router settings, go to the WAN menu. Select the type of connection to the PPPoE server. Enable Static IP (DHCP) mode. On the Get DNS Server Automatically menu, set the option to Yes. Specify the access point recommended by your provider, for example stream.ru. Activate the NAT function, if the menu of this router allows it.

Step 4

Save the changes to the WAN menu settings. Open Wi-Fi. Change the operating parameters of the wireless access point. Be sure to choose the appropriate security type and set a strong password. Now go to the advanced settings menu. Change the username and password required to access the Wi-Fi router. Now save the global settings of the parameters of the network equipment and reboot it. You may need to disconnect the router from the AC power supply to do this.

Step 5

Wait for the router to fully boot up and connect to the provider's server. Turn on your laptop and see a list of available Wi-Fi networks. Connect to your router. To do this, enter the password that you specified when setting up the access point. If there is no Internet access, then press the key combination Win and R. Enter the command cmd and in the menu that opens, write route –t. Reconnect to the router.
