The procedures for creating a Listen Server and a Dedicated Server for a Counter Strike game differ significantly. The first one is intended for small games on a local network, the second one can be used as a public one. Nevertheless, both operations can be easily performed by the user with a minimum level of computer training.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure you have a working Counter Strike 1.6 client installed on your computer before starting to create a Listen Server. Start the game and select the New Game option. Wait for the game server window to open and go to the Server tab. Specify the starting game card and select the Game tab.
Step 2
Type the name of the server to be created in the Hostname line and enter the maximum number of players in the "Max. Players" field. Enter the password for logging into the server in the Server password line and define the time for each map in the Time per map field. Activate the options for changing the map after the team wins in the Win limit line and changing the map after the rounds of the game in the Round limit field. Enter the desired round time in the Time per round line and select the required time to block the player in the new round in the Freeze time field. Set the time for possible purchases in the Buy time line and define the amount of the player's initial money in the Starting money field. Turn on the function of footsteps in the Footsteps line and select the desired type of surveillance camera in the Death camera type field: the ability to see all players - the Spectate anyone line or the ability to see the players of your group - the Spectate team only field. Save the changes made by clicking on the Start button and wait for the created server to start.
Step 3
To create a dedicated server for the Counter Strike Source game, you need to download the HHldsUpdateTool.exe utility distributive to your computer and install it in the drive_name: / srcds folder. Call the main menu by clicking on the "Start" button and go to the "Run" dialog. Type the command cmd in the "Open" line and confirm the launch of the command line by clicking on the OK button.
Step 4
Type the command drive_name: / srcds / hldsupdstetool in the command interpreter text box and press Enter. Then use the syntax:
server_folder / hldsupdatetool / HldsUpdateTool -command update -game Counter-Strike Source -dir server_folder / hldsupdatetool
to boot the server. Create a special bat file, the contents of which are:
start /hlds.exe -game cstrike -console -secure + maxplayers 24 + port 27015 + map de_dust2
and name it start.bat. Download the server.cfg file and run the generated bat file.
