When building your own local network, you can use almost any stationary computer or laptop as a server. Naturally, this device needs to be properly configured and additional hardware added to it.

Instructions
Step 1
Select a PC or laptop that will distribute the Internet channel to the rest of the network devices. Remember that you will need to connect an additional network card to the selected computer, and this one must be constantly on. That is why it is recommended to use a stationary PC, not a mobile computer.
Step 2
Connect the second network card to the target computer. If there are no free PIC ports on the motherboard, then use a multi-channel network card or a USB-LAN adapter. Install the software required for the new device to function properly.
Step 3
Now connect an internet connection cable to one of the network cards. Set up this connection, taking into account the wishes and instructions of the specialists of your provider. Now connect the free network adapter to the hub. Connect other laptops and computers to the latter.
Step 4
Open Network and Sharing Center and go to "Change adapter settings". Open the properties of the network card connected to the hub. Set its IP address value to 216.216.216.1. Leave the rest of the TCP / IP parameters unchanged.
Step 5
Now open the properties of your internet connection and select the "Access" menu. Check the box next to the item allowing other PCs to use this Internet connection. Select the local network that includes other computers.
Step 6
Now configure the TCP / IP parameters of the other PCs. Specify the following values: - 216.216.216. X - IP address;
- 255.255.255.0 - Subnet mask;
- 216.216.216.1 - Preferred DNS server;
- 216.216.216.1 - Default gateway. Remember that parameter X should not be equal to one. Naturally, for each PC, assign a new value for this parameter.
