A laptop, like any computer, can be connected to a shared local area network to exchange various data with other computers on the network or to access the Internet.

Step 1
This can be done using an Ethernet network port or using wi-fi wireless technologies. If a physical connection is created, all that remains is to set the correct software settings. Make sure you have a network connection by running "Network and Sharing Center". If the connection is established, then in the connections section there will be an active network icon.
Step 2
Set the correct connection settings in the TCP / IP section. If you manually register IP addresses on your local network, specify a unique address for the network connection, then the gateway and subnet mask. If the router distributes addresses, leave the automatic detection of the settings. Click on the "Save" button if you made settings in the system.
Step 3
Check in the properties of the computer that the laptop is in the same workgroup as the computers on the local network. Look at the map of the entire network in the "Network Sharing Center". Try pinging the laptop's IP address from another computer on the network. Make sure your network traffic scanning or antivirus software is not blocking your network connection. Disable Windows Firewall. Restart your computer, as not all network settings may work right away.
Step 4
If the ping command is successful and you see a laptop in the network map, then the connection was successful. You just need to select a folder for data exchange over the network and open access to it for other computers. You can use different folders. As a rule, this folder is often the "Shared Documents" category in the local drive C. Do not forget that all data in the shared folders will be fully accessible to other users on the local network.
