When a USB flash drive is first inserted into a computer, a driver is installed on the operating system that fixes every connection. Thus, you can restore the connection history of each flash drive. But if for some reason you need to reset the history of connecting a certain flash drive to the computer, then you need to uninstall this driver.
It is necessary
- - a computer;
- - USBDeview program.
Instructions
Step 1
For the next steps, you need the USBDeview program. It is completely free. Find the app on the internet and download. Unpack the archive to any folder. After unpacking, you will find three files: a text file in which you can read information about the program, a help file, and an executable file USBDeview.exe.
Step 2
To launch the program, simply double-click on the executable file, and it will be launched. In the main window, you will see all the information about the flash drives that have ever been connected to your computer. The information window will be divided into several parts. You are interested in the "Description" subsection. It is in it that there are the names of the models of all flash drives that were connected to the computer. Find in this window the name of the flash drive whose driver you need to remove.
Step 3
If there are too many devices in the window, and you cannot find your flash drive model, use the search. To do this, select "Edit" in the program menu, and then "Find" in the additional menu. In the line that appears, enter the name of the flash drive model (at least approximate). After entering the search parameters, click Find Next. After a few seconds, a list of devices corresponding to your search parameter will appear in the program window.
Step 4
After you find the model of the flash drive, click on it with the left mouse button. You can view detailed information about the device, starting with the driver version and ending with the device instance code.
Step 5
To uninstall the driver, right-click on the name of the flash drive. A context menu will appear. In it, select the option "Remove the selected device". After that, all information will be completely deleted from your computer. The next time the flash drive is connected, the operating system will re-detect the device and install the driver.
