In gaming and professional computers, the video card takes an important place. Connoisseurs of computer games and video editing carefully choose a video card before buying. You can also find out the name of the video card without disassembling the computer.
Instructions
Step 1
Naturally, this can be done if you have not preserved or simply do not have instructions, or you have bought a used computer. Finding out the manufacturer's name and model of the video card is not difficult. To do this, click the "Start" button on the desktop, select "All Programs", then the "Accessories" folder. In this folder you will see a shortcut "Run". This shortcut can be accessed in Windows Vista and Windows 7 by going to Start and typing Run (without quotes) at the bottom to search for programs and files.
Step 2
Click on the "Run" shortcut and in the line that appears, enter "dxdiag" (without quotes), then click "OK". You will be presented with a computer diagnostic tool called DirectX. It contains information about the manufacturers of the physical hardware for the computer, called "hardware". This includes the video card. Go to the "Display" tab and verify this.
Main elements of the "Display" tab, section "Device":
Name - the full name of the video card, including the model and its number;
Manufacturer - a corporation that manufactures video cards under its own label;
Chip Type - The GPU that the video card uses.
