If you want to cut out a fragment of a favorite song, for example, to set it as a ringtone, it's easy to do. Moreover, it is not at all necessary to download special audio editors for this. First, there is Movie Maker installed on Windows, which will do the job just fine. Secondly, there are online services on the network with which you can cut a piece from any melody.
Instructions
Step 1
Launch Windows Movie Maker: Start Menu - Accessories - Entertainment. In the "File" menu, click on the line "Import to collections" or use the key combination Ctrl + I. Select the desired music file on your computer and wait while it is loaded into the program

Drag the file icon onto the timeline. Start playing the file and stop at the starting point of the section you want. To define the line as accurately as possible, use the scaling tools. Press the key combination Ctrl + L or on the "Cut" button located at the bottom of the preview window - the unnecessary section of the music file will be cut off
Step 3
Determine in the same way the end point of the musical fragment you need and cut off all unnecessary ones. Select the "extra" segments and delete them - you can just press the Delete key
Step 4
Move the selection to the beginning of the timeline. In the "File" menu, select the line "Save Movie File" or press the key combination Ctrl + P
Step 5
Set the path to save the file and give it a name. Select the sound quality options you want. Wait for the file creation process to finish. Click on the "Finish" button
Step 6
Please note that Movie Maker saves finished audio files only in wma format. If for some reason this format does not suit you, the file will have to be processed in a converter program or use another program to cut files. For example, use the online service

Go to the service page and click on the "Download mp3" button to select the desired file on your computer. Wait for the melody of your choice to be uploaded to the site
Step 8
Move the sliders on the timeline to select the desired piece of music. When everything is ready, click on the "Cut and Download" button - the finished segment will be automatically downloaded to your computer.
