Step 1
Prepare a wav file with music to be played when the computer is turned on. It may turn out that a suitable wav file is not currently available. In this case, you can download sound files optimized for use in operating system sound schemes from the Internet. Or use the Sound Forge program, with which you can convert all familiar mp3 files to wav format. After installing this program, click the File top menu, in the list that opens, select the Open item. Select any mp3 file that you want to hear when you boot your computer and click the "Open" button. After loading the file into the program window, you can trim it, because listening to two or three minutes of a song when starting the computer quickly gets boring. Now it remains to save the resulting file by pressing the key combination Ctrl + S.
Step 2
To change the standard sounds, you will need to make adjustments to the settings of the audio circuits. To do this, click the "Start" menu, in the list that opens, select "Control Panel". In the window that opens, double-click on the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon (for Windows XP).
Step 3
In the Sounds and Audio Devices applet, go to the Sounds tab. From the drop-down list, select the action for which the sound signal will be changed. For example, to replace music when loading the operating system, select the "Start Windows" item and click the "Browse" button. In the window that opens, select a previously prepared sound file of the wav format.
Step 4
In Windows 7, the location of the audio devices applet is in a different location: open the Start menu, in the list that opens, click Control Panel and select the Hardware and Sound section. In the window that opens, click the "Change system sounds" link.
