Often a lot of messages come to your e-mail. And some of them may contain information that you still need. For convenience, you can immediately save the letter to a special folder on your hard drive. And if you install the mail program, then all messages will be saved on your hard drive.

It is necessary

  • - the program "Notepad" or Microsoft Office Word;
  • - mail program (The bat, Microsoft Office Outlook, Windows Mail).

Instructions

Step 1

To save a message from your e-mail box to your computer, create a text file on your hard disk using Notepad or Microsoft Office Word. Open the file and copy the text of the letter there, then save. If a file was attached to the message - a picture, music or video, save it separately - there is a special button in the mailbox for this. Of course, you can try using the "File" - "Save As …" method, but it doesn't always work. You may find that the file is empty with no text.

Step 2

If you want all incoming mail to be stored not on the mail server, but on your computer, install any mail program on it. The most popular ones are The bat, Microsoft Office Outlook and Windows Mail. After installation, configure the program. If you want copies of letters to be also saved on the server, specify this in the settings.

Step 3

If you have any mail program installed, and you want to uninstall it and switch to another, first export all letters to the folder of the new program. To do this, create folders on your hard drive for letters from each of your e-mail boxes. Select the appropriate directory in the first mail client, select all messages. Click Tools - Export Messages - Message files (with.eml extension) and save the messages in the newly created folders. Repeat this step for all email folders.

Step 4

Import messages into a new mail program. Set up the program, create an account in it. Create the same mailboxes as in the old program. Using the newly installed mail client, open the previously created folders one by one, select files with the.eml extension in them and drag them into the corresponding boxes.
