Some printers and multifunctional devices have an ink level monitoring feature. When they run out of cartridges, the device is blocked. To prevent this from happening, this function can be disabled.
Instructions
Step 1
Be careful: if you opt out of automatic ink level control, you will have to monitor the status of your device yourself. In certain cases, disabling this option increases the risk that the print head will burn if you do not correct the situation in time.
Step 2
As a rule, the principle of action when disconnecting is as follows: check the messages that appear that the device is low on ink. On the printer, press and hold the paper feed button with the triangle and flashing light for 10 seconds. The ink level monitoring system will be disabled for the specific ink tank (the one you received an alert about).
Step 3
For some cartridges, there is a different method: Open Control Panel from the Start menu, in the Printers and Other Hardware category, select the Printers and Faxes icon. Right-click on the name of your printer and select Properties from the context menu. On the Ports tab, uncheck the Allow two-way communication box. Click on the "Apply" button and close the window.
Step 4
Also, for certain models of printers, there are special utilities that allow you to reset the ink counter (for example, IPTool). Install and run the utility, turn on the printer, select your model. Press the Reset button alternately for black and color ink tanks, in the Ink Level group, set the value to "100".
Step 5
To use less ink in your printer, use Eco Mode. To do this, open the properties window of your printer as described in the third step, and go to the "General" tab. Click on the "Printing Preferences" button and in the additional window that opens, open the "Paper / Quality" tab. In the "Print Quality" group, use the drop-down list to select the desired value or mark the EconomMode box with a marker to enable economical mode. Apply the new settings.
