Instructions

Step 1

Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "All Programs" item to initiate the integrity check of the Windows system files.

Step 2

Expand the "Standard" link and open the context menu of the "Command Line" tool by right-clicking.

Step 3

Select Run as Administrator to meet Microsoft security requirements and enter sfc / scannow in the command prompt to immediately scan all protected files on the system and replace the damaged versions with the original ones. Press the Enter function key to confirm the command execution.

Step 4

Use the sfc / scanonce value to perform the scan after the next reboot of the operating system and press the Enter key to apply the selected changes.

Step 5

Select sfc / scanboot to check all protected files on the system every time you restart your computer and press Enter to confirm your choice.

Step 6

Enter the value sfc / revert in the command line field to cancel scanning of protected files at OS boot, i.e. restore default validation parameters, and press Enter to confirm the command.

Step 7

Use the sfc / purgecache value to immediately purge the file cache and check the integrity of the system files, and press Enter to apply the selected changes.

Step 8

Select sfc / cachesize = x to perform the option to limit the size of the file cache in x megabytes and click OK to confirm your choice. The changes will take effect after you restart your computer and use the sfc / purgecache command.
