Depending on the set refresh rate, the computer display may flicker unpleasantly - this is a sign of low frequency. The refresh rate on the monitor is measured in hertz. You can increase the refresh rate of the monitor screen using standard Windows tools.
Instructions
Step 1
In Windows XP / 2003: To change the screen refresh rate, open the context menu on the desktop and select the Personalization item. In the window that appears, select the "Screen" link located at the bottom of the left column in the "See. See also. On the next level, click on the "Adjust Screen Resolution" link in the same left column. You will open the section on changing the matrix resolution. Find the Advanced Options link on the screen and click on it. The application displaying the properties starts. Select the "Monitor" tab and in the "Monitor settings" section click on the drop-down list. Select the maximum frequency from this list, then click “Apply” and “OK”. The frequency will be increased.
Step 2
In Windows Vista / 7: Go to the desktop in "Display Properties", invoking the context menu by right-clicking the mouse. Select the "Advanced" tab, then find the "Monitor" section. Check the box next to the text "Hide modes that the display does not support" and in the drop-down list select the maximum available frequency. After that click "Apply" and "OK". The frequency will be changed to the set one.
Step 3
Often, the refresh rate of the screen does not change in laptops and is usually 60 Hz. In this case, it is not possible to increase the frequency.
Step 4
The monitors of personal computers can display the "Default" frequency. This means that the drivers for the video card are not installed on the computer. You can install them by downloading from the manufacturer's website: www.nvidia.com (NVidia video cards) and www.ati.com (ATI video cards). The video drivers are installed just like usual programs under Windows. Following the instructions of the installation wizard, complete the installation and restart your computer, after which you can adjust the refresh rate of the screen.
