Sometimes there is an unpleasant screen flickering on the monitor. In some cases it is more noticeable, in others it is less, but the eyes get tired of it very quickly, and sometimes it causes a real headache. To remove this unpleasant effect, you just need to change the screen refresh rate. At 85 hertz or more, this problem is almost invisible.

Instructions

Step 1

If your computer is running Windows XP, right-click on a free space on the desktop and left-click on the Properties menu item. In the properties window that appears, select the rightmost tab with the heading "Parameters" with the left mouse button.

Click the Advanced button at the bottom of the window.

Step 2

One more window with tabs will open, the title will be the inscription “Properties: <название монитора="">… ". If your line looks like: "Properties: Default monitor …" - it means that you do not have the monitor drivers installed

Step 3

Select the "Monitor" tab with the left mouse button. On the "Monitor" tab, you will see two highlighted inscriptions: "Monitor type" and "Monitor settings", and even lower will be what you need - a drop-down list of possible refresh rates on your monitor, where the inscription "60 Hz" will most likely be. Move the mouse pointer over this inscription, left-click and select the lowest possible option, it can be 75Hz, 85Hz, 100Hz, the more the better.

Step 4

When you select the desired frequency, click the "Apply" button at the bottom of the screen. A window appears with the words "Would you like to keep these settings" and the options "Yes" / "No". If you see this inscription - feel free to click "Yes". If something is wrong, and the image disappears from the screen, just wait 20 seconds, the picture will come back, and you just select a lower frequency, for example, not 100 Hz, but 85 Hz.

Step 5

If you do not have a monitor driver installed - this can be understood by the "Monitor by default" label below the "Monitor type" heading and the inability to select a screen refresh rate higher than 60 Hz - then you need to install this driver. Click the Properties button next to the Default Monitor label. A window with tabs will appear, from which select the "Driver" tab, and then click the "Update" button. The "Hardware Update Wizard" appears. Select the middle answer option, "Yes, now and every time you connect the device", and click the "Next" button, while the Internet must be connected. On each new screen, click Next and Yes. When the inscription "Finish" appears, click on it. The monitor driver is installed.

Step 6

Click the Close button at the bottom of the window. Click OK and restart your computer. Then repeat steps one through six. So, the screen flickering is not noticeable, all the parameters are set as needed, click the "OK" button, and "OK" again to close all the settings windows.
