Counter-Strike has long ceased to be just a shooter and has acquired a cult status for thousands of online gamers. Even ten years after its release, the game continues to attract the attention of novice gamers. However, the project itself does not become more modern from this - the system for entering the game has long been outdated and may seem unobvious to modern players.
Instructions
Step 1
You can enter the game from Half-Life. Technically CS is nothing more than an add-on, and therefore you can run it as a plug-in. Launch HL and select Custom Game from the main menu. In the list that appears, select Counter-Strike and click "Run".
Step 2
You can create a shortcut to launch "Contra" by default. To do this, create a shortcut to the hl.exe file that launches Half-Life (if there is one already, copy it). Go to the "Properties" shortcut menu and in the "Object" field containing a link to the executable file, add –game cstrike after the quotes. Now the operation described in the first paragraph will be performed automatically.
Step 3
From the Counter-Strke client, you can enter three types of games: local, internet and single player. The entrance to the latter is realized by pressing the New Game key in the main menu. You have to choose a map and initial settings for the game. Please note that if you do not have bots installed, you will have to play alone.
Step 4
Select the Find Servers menu item. The game lobby will appear on the screen, reflecting all the available servers. Switching between the Internet and Lan tabs, you will view the lists of available servers on the Internet and the local network, respectively. Double click on the chosen one and you will automatically enter the game. Sometimes you may need to enter a password to login.
Step 5
If no servers appear in the Internet tab, check the connection activity. The game's access to the network can be blocked by a firewall (in which case you will have to add hl.exe to the list of "Exclusions") or antivirus (actions in this case will depend on the specific protection system). Also, don't forget that you need the C. S. 1.6 as the most popular.
