Skype is a popular program for communicating over the Internet. It allows you to make calls to other Skype users, as well as conduct textual correspondence with them using the built-in chat. The most important feature of the program is that all calls to other users are free, regardless of the duration or location of the subscriber. It should also be noted that the program itself is free. All this served as a strong impetus for widespread distribution of the program among users.
Necessary
- - Computer with Windows OS;
- - Skype program;
- - Webcam;
- - headset (headphones with microphone);
- - access to the Internet.
Instructions
Step 1
Decide what you will be using Skype for. In order to carry on correspondence with other users of the program, it is enough just to have an Internet connection. If you also plan to make calls, and even more so video calls, the purchase of a webcam will be a prerequisite for work. However, if you limit yourself to only regular calls without video, it will be enough to connect a headset (headphones with a microphone). Communication via Skype requires a stable Internet connection: for regular calls, the connection speed must be at least 128 kbps, and for calls with video, the recommended speed is 1024 kbps.
Step 2
First download the program from the official website (skype.com). It is advisable to use the most recent version. Before installing the program, check that the Internet is connected, then run the SkypeSetup.exe file. During the installation process, select your language (for example, Russian) and click on the "I agree - install" button. When the installation of the program is over, a registration window will appear, in which you will need to enter your username and password (twice), then check the box next to the item that you are familiar with the terms of use. Next, you will need to specify your email address, select a country, city and, if desired, check the box to automatically start and authorize Skype when Windows starts. After clicking on the authorization button, you will enter the program.
Step 3
After connecting the necessary equipment (webcam, headset), test their operation. For this, Skype has a test contact - Echo / Sound Test Service. When you call this contact, you will need to say any phrase into the microphone. If everything is in order, then you will hear it at the end of the audio message. You can test the webcam in the Skype settings by going to Tools - Settings - Video settings. If something goes wrong, check if the camera is properly connected and try reinstalling its driver.
Step 4
Finally, if everything is in order, you can now add new contacts through the program interface and make calls to friends and family over the Internet.
