Using a webcam gives a person a lot of opportunities: take photos, communicate with people and see them from different parts of the world, and much more. But some people have difficulties immediately after purchasing this device. How to connect, how to set up, how to check a webcam? It couldn't be easier.
Instructions
Step 1
First, connect your webcam to your computer via the USB port. If the camera is already built into your computer, skip this step.
Step 2
All modern cameras are automatically detected by the system. If Windows itself recognized the device and started installing the drivers, everything is fine. But there are some older camera models that require manual installation of drivers. To do this, go to "Start - Control Panel - View Scanners and Cameras".
Step 3
A dialog box will open listing the connected scanners and cameras. If the model you are looking for is not listed, check that it is properly connected to your computer. Click "Update". Click the "Add Device" button to start the scanner or camera setup wizard.
Step 4
Follow the step by step instructions. Select the manufacturer and model of your device from the list provided. If you have an installation disc, insert it into your drive and click the Have Disc button. If there is no disk, click Next.
Step 5
Enter a name for the device or select one that is already suggested. Click Next again. The wizard has completed the installation. Click Finish to close the wizard, Back to go back and change any installation options.
Step 6
Now you need to launch the program that will use your webcam. Typically, these programs come with the drivers on the installation discs supplied with the cameras. If there is no such program, download it on the Internet or buy a disc, install it on your computer and turn it on. The most popular programs using webcams today are Skype, mailAgent, WebCamMax and others.
Step 7
Once launched, the program will automatically detect the presence of the camera. If necessary, adjust the settings in the appropriate section. If the camera and the program are working properly, then you did everything right.
