On many newer laptop models, users can find a hidden partition on hard drives. The fact is that laptop developers often do not complete their products with disks with operating systems, but simply save the OS image along with all the necessary software in a special hidden section. It is not always possible to open it in the usual way.

It is necessary

  • - a computer with Windows OS;
  • - PartitionMagic program.

Instructions

Step 1

There are several ways to open a hidden section. One of the simplest is to use standard operating system tools. Click Start. Select All Programs, then Standard Programs. Find and open a command prompt in standard programs. At the command prompt, enter diskmgmt.msc. Hit Enter. After a few seconds, the Disk Management window will open.

Step 2

In this window, all partitions of the hard disk are displayed completely, including hidden ones. Find the hidden section you need in this window. Click on it with the right mouse button. Then, in the context menu that appears, select "Open".

Step 3

If the first method did not help you, then try the next one. First, you need to download the PartitionMagic program from the Internet to work with hard drives. The program is commercial, but there is a trial period of its use, which is one month. After downloading, install the application on your computer. Reboot the machine.

Step 4

Start PartitionMagic. The main menu of the program contains a list of all partitions on the hard disk. Click on the hidden section with the right mouse button. Then select "Open" from the context menu.

Step 5

Also, in some cases, this method can help. Click Start. Open the "Control Panel" shortcut. In the Control Panel window, select the Folder Options shortcut. After that, go to the "View" tab, in which find the "Hidden files and folders" section. In this section, check the "Show hidden files, folders and drives" item.

Step 6

Further in the "Files and folders" section, find the line "Hide protected files and folders". Check it out. After selecting all the options, click "Apply" and OK. Close all windows. Reboot your computer. The hidden partition on your hard drive should now be accessible and you can open it.
