A virtual disk, unlike ordinary disks like CD or DVD, exists only in a computer without a physical medium, but, like real ones, it is played through a floppy drive - however, it is also virtual. Very often, new computer games are borrowed from friends or rented in order to create such a virtual disk with the game.

Instructions

Step 1

Usually a virtual disk (or a disk image, as it is also called) is copied from a real medium, but the computer works with it as with a real storage medium. To burn the game, install a special program on your PC that will help you create a virtual floppy drive and burn an image. As an example, we can cite such programs as Alcohol 120%, Nero 7, Daemon Tools, but there are many others that allow you to accomplish the necessary task.

Step 2

In different programs, the procedure for burning a virtual disc is slightly different, so it makes sense to consider an example based on the popular Nero 7 software package. Insert the real game disc into the PC drive and start the Nero BurningROM program. To do this, you need to select "favorites" in the main panel of Nero StartSmart, in which you need to click on the line "copy CD" or DVD, depending on what the toy is recorded on.

Step 3

In the upper right corner of Nero BurningROM, where you can find the list of recorders, go to Image Recorder and click on "copy".

Step 4

In the "Reading options" tab, you can select the path in which the computer will correct errors that occur while reading information in the "error correction" tab. It can be "ignore errors", "edit", or whatever you want.

Step 5

In the window that opens with the words "new project" click on "copy", as a result of which the "save file" window will appear. In this window, write down the place where the game is saved, as well as the name of the virtual disk.

Step 6

After entering the data, click on "save" and wait until the image is completely created. This requires some time, depending both on the volume of the toy itself and the maximum possible speed that your drive can support in the computer.

Step 7

You can now remove your original CD or DVD from your drive - you won't need it anymore - and restart your computer. It remains to go to the specified address by opening the created virtual disk. Start playing the rewritten toy without using its real media.
