Almost any modern video card can be overclocked. Some of them have more opportunities for this, while others have more modest indicators. But if you overclock the board overclocking, any model can start working with failures, which will result in a computer restart immediately after switching to 3D mode or in a complete system freeze. To return to normal performance, you need to remove the overclocking of the video card.

Step 1
If you have video cards from ATI, then regardless of how the overclocking was carried out, you can remove it using the ATI Catalyst Control Center tool. Usually, this application is also installed along with the drivers for the video card. If the program is not on your system, you will have to install it. This application must be on a driver disc, or you can download it from the Internet. It is better to download one of the latest versions of the program.
Step 2
Next, we will consider the procedure for resetting the overclocking of a video card using the example of ATI Catalyst Control Center 12.1. Although on older versions of the program, this procedure is practically the same. Launch ATI Catalyst Control Center, select "Performance" from the program menu.
Step 3
Then go to the AMD Overdrive tab. In the lower left corner of the window there is a "Default" button - click on this button. Then click "Apply". You can close the window - the overclocking of the video card is removed. The board is now working at factory settings.
Step 4
Owners of nVidia video cards are best off using the RivaTuner program. Download it from the Internet and install it on your computer hard drive. Run the program, then click on the arrow that points to the side. Several icons will appear.
Step 5
When you move the mouse cursor over the icon, an inscription appears. Click on the "Low-level system settings" icon. Next, in the lower right corner, click on the "Initial" button. After that click OK, restart your computer. After restarting the PC, the frequencies of the video card will be reset to standard.
