There are two options for logging into the Windows operating system: classic logon and through the welcome screen - the splash screen that you see when you log on to the system. You can choose any of these methods if you have administrator rights.

Instructions

Step 1

To restore the Welcome screen, from the Start menu, go to Control Panel and search for User Accounts. Double click on the icon. In the "Select a job" section, click on the "Change user logon" link. In the new window, select the Use Welcome Page checkbox and click the Apply Settings button.

Step 2

Sometimes, when trying to restore the Welcome screen using standard Windows tools, the message "The Client for NetWare service has shut down the screen …" appears. To solve the problem from the "Start" menu go to the "Control Panel" and expand the "Network Connections" icon. Call the context menu by right-clicking on the "Local Area Connection" icon and select the "Properties" option. On the General tab, in the list of components, check Client for Netware Networks and click Remove.

Step 3

In particularly difficult cases, this client is not displayed in the list of components, but at the same time it blocks the ability to change the login method. In the "General" tab of the Network Connections window, check the "Client for Microsoft Networks" item and click "Install". In the new window, the "Client" item is checked by default. Click "Add" and in a new window confirm the installation with the "OK" button. After that, uninstall the client as described above.

Step 4

You can restore the welcome screen through the Windows registry. Click "Start" and choose "Run". Enter regedit at the command prompt. Find the HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogon section. To do this, on the left side of the screen, expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then the subsections SOFTWARE, Microsoft, etc. In the Winlogon subsection on the right side of the window, find the LogonType parameter. To enter the system through the welcome screen, the value of this parameter must be equal to 1. Check it and select the "Edit" and "Change" items in the main menu. In the "Value" box, enter "1".
