Performing the Acive Desktop restore operation can be done with some computer experience and does not require the use of additional third-party software. Problems with Active Desktop are sometimes caused by installing system updates.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "Run" item to remove the "Restore Active Desktop" button.
Step 2
Enter regedit in the Open box and click OK to launch the Registry Editor tool.
Step 3
Expand the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Internet Explorer / Desktop / Components and select it.
Step 4
Call the context menu of the DeskHtmlVersion parameter by right-clicking in the right panel and select the "Change" item.
Step 5
Enter a value of 0 in the Value field and click OK to apply the selected changes.
Step 6
Expand the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Internet Explorer / Desktop / Scheme and select Display = SaveMode.
Step 7
Delete the Savemode parameter value (clear the parameter) and run the Windows Explorer tool.
Step 8
Find and delete the file C: / Documents and Settings \% user% / Application Data / Microsoft / Internet Explorer / Desktop.htt (hidden).
Step 9
Call the context menu of the "Desktop" element by right-clicking on an empty space and select the "Refresh" command.
Step 10
Create a.reg file with the following content:
