The Active Desktop element allows you to customize your desktop so that it acts like a personal Internet page, displaying and automatically updating selected Web site elements. The main disadvantage of Active Desktop is the need for a permanent internet connection.
Instructions
Step 1
Call the context menu by right-clicking on an empty space on the desktop and select the Active Desktop item to enable the selected item.
Step 2
Check the box next to "Display Web Content" to activate the item. Uncheck the box next to Display Web Content to disable the item.
Step 3
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to "Settings" to add the Active Desktop control to the desktop.
Step 4
Select the "Control Panel" item and open the "Display" icon by double-clicking the mouse.
Step 5
Go to the Web tab and click the Create button.
Step 6
Click Yes to use the Active Desktop control from the Microsoft collection of desktop features.
Step 7
Click the "No" button to use the site as part of the Active Desktop and enter the address of the site you want.
Step 8
Return to the main "Start" menu and go to the "Settings" item to select a web page as your desktop image.
Step 9
Select the "Control Panel" item and open the "Display" icon by double-clicking the mouse.
Step 10
Go to the Wallpaper tab and click the Browse button.
Step 11
Select "HTML Document" in the dialog box that opens and browse for the desired file on your hard drive.

Press the "Open" button and confirm the execution of the command by pressing the OK button.
Step 13
Return to the main Start menu and go to Settings to remove the Active Desktop control from the desktop.
Step 14
Select the "Control Panel" item and open the "Display" icon by double-clicking the mouse.
Step 15
Go to the "Web" tab and specify the website to be deleted.
Step 16
Click the "Delete" button and confirm your choice by clicking the "Yes" button.

Click OK to confirm the application of the selected changes.
