The operating system that your computer runs is installed along with a set of drivers for a wide range of devices, including sound cards. When an audio processor is detected, the system tries to recognize it and install the appropriate control program from its set. If this fails, the default driver is used - this is the universal driver for all sound cards.

Step 1
If the default driver used by the operating system needs to be replaced, proceed in this order - first determine the manufacturer and model of the sound card, then find and download the installation files on its website, then run them. The first step (determining the manufacturer and model) will have to be done using a screwdriver - if your OS could not recognize it, it means that you will not be able to get the necessary data by software. In the system unit, remove the side panel and read the manufacturer's name and device version on the audio card.
Step 2
Enter a query with the name of the manufacturer in any search engine, and then go to his website at the received address on the network. All web resources of this kind have their own built-in search systems - enter the name of the model and follow the link received to go to the information page related to your sound card model. It should provide for loading descriptions, auxiliary programs and drivers - download and run the driver installation file.
Step 3
Most modern motherboards have a built-in audio processor manufactured by the Taiwanese company Realtek Semiconductor. It is also used in additional sound cards. It is very likely that for normal operation of your audio card you need a driver from this company, made according to one of the two current specifications - AC'97 or HD Audio.
