The use of two sound cards allows you to use a stationary computer or laptop as a receiver. This means that you can create a complete 5.1 system using a set of several computer speakers.
Instructions
Step 1
First, make sure that both sound cards work correctly separately. Update the drivers for both devices. It is worth noting that when using boards from the same company, for example, Realtek, you may have problems with their synchronization. This is due to the fact that the same program will be responsible for configuring each board.
Step 2
For connection and sound settings 5.1. (6.1.) You need kit 2.1 and two kits 2.0. This gives you a set of one subwoofer and six satellites. Connect the 2.1 system to one of the ports on any sound card. Open the device setup program, highlight the port you are using, and select Center / Subwoofer Output.
Step 3
The satellites in this kit must function as a front speaker. Now connect a set of 2.0 speakers to a free slot on another sound card.
Step 4
Open the setup program for this sound card. Go to the settings menu of the desired port. Select the item "Output to rear speakers". Place the connected speakers so that they are behind the user.
Step 5
Find out which sound card supports multi-channel operation. Connect the second set of 2.0 to the required slot of this card. Select "Front Speakers" in the settings menu. Place the satellites on either side of the center channel.
Step 6
When using two boards in sync, you can observe a delay in the sound transmitted by one of them. This is due to the fact that information is not transmitted to different boards at the same time. Open the Sound Device Settings program. Set the delay period for the card that beeps faster.
Step 7
Please be aware that in multichannel cards, not all ports are designed for connecting a large number of devices. Typically one slot is reserved for the microphone, the other for the front speakers, and the third is versatile and easy to configure.
