Necessary

  • - computer;
  • - the Restorator program.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the System32 folder, which is located in the Windows system folder. Find the logonui.exe file in it and copy it to any safe place. Copying the original file will protect you in the event of unwanted changes. If you don't like the result, you can always return to the standard welcome screen.

Step 2

Download the Restorator program (distributed free of charge) and install it. Run the program and in the main menu of the program, click on the "Open file" button. In the dialog box that opens, specify the path to the myui.exe file located in the System32 folder.

Step 3

After opening the file, you will see all the resources available for editing, including labels, images, positions of various objects, etc. Change the background image (it is better to use a suitable resolution), change the standard colors of various windows. You can also change the text of the "Welcome" caption or replace it with an image. To do this, change the parameters of the String Table resource (the "Greeting" line), this is the parameter responsible for displaying the phrase in the middle of the screen. Enter the desired phrase or word in the line.

Step 4

To replace a word with an image, delete all contents of lines 912 and 911 in the UIFILE 1000 parameter. Paste the following code:

999 is the name of the resource that will be responsible for the image. Add the resource to the Bitmap group, name it 999 and attach a picture to it.

120 is the height of the picture.

399 is the width of the picture.

Step 5

After making all the changes, save the file. Next, open the registry editor using the regedit command. In the search bar, enter the UIHost parameter, open it. Replace the default with the value of your modified myui.exe file. Close the registry windows and restart your computer. The new welcome screen has been installed.
