Instructions
Step 1
It is recommended to install the Windows XP operating system first, and then Seven. This sequence will make it easier to customize the OS selection menu when the computer boots. Start installing the Windows XP operating system.
Step 2
Select the required hard disk partition and format it. After completing the Windows XP setup process, prepare your hard drive to host the second operating system. Install the Partition Manager program. It is only necessary to use it if you need to create a new disk partition without formatting the volume that you will be dividing.
Step 3
Run the program and go to the "Wizards" menu. Select the "Quick Create Section" item. Specify the hard disk volume from which you want to separate free space. Click "Next". Specify the size of the future section. Installing the Windows Seven operating system and several of the most popular programs can take up to 40 GB.
Step 4
Select the file system type of the future local disk. Click the Next and Finish buttons. Wait for the completion of the creation of the new partition.
Step 5
Now install the Windows Seven operating system. Naturally, in any case, do not format the hard disk partition on which Windows XP is installed. Reboot your computer after Windows Seven installation is complete. As you can see, there is no window for selecting the operating system to boot.
Step 6
Load the operating system Windows 7. Open the "Start" menu and right-click on the "Computer" menu. Go to Properties. On the left side of the menu that opens, select the "Advanced system settings" menu.
Step 7
Go to the Advanced tab, find the Startup and Recovery submenu and click the Options button. Find the item "Display a list of operating systems" and activate it. Click the "OK" button to apply the changes.
