Modern computer games impose very high demands on the hardware. Of course, in all games, you can "simplify" the system requirements by reducing the resolution of the output image and degrading the quality of the graphics. But what if you want to fully appreciate the beauty of a new game, but even a powerful video card does not allow you to set the graphics settings to the maximum position? The solution may be to install a second video card in the system unit.

Necessary

Computer, small Phillips screwdriver, second graphics card, basic computer skills

Instructions

Step 1

Make sure the installation of a second video card is possible. To do this, the motherboard must have a second PCI Express x16 slot. You can find out from the instructions for it. Also, read which video card combinations are supported. For example, on a motherboard with an AMD chipset, a pair of Nvidia cards may not work.

Step 2

The video card should be of the same type as the one already installed, ideally exactly the same. When buying, pay attention to the card cooling system. Firstly, it must be efficient, and secondly, it must fit into the case, and expansion boards can interfere with it.

Step 3

Open the side cover and insert the card into an empty slot. In this case, it should stand up straight, and the strip of contacts should completely disappear into the slot. Secure the card with the screw.

Step 4

Install a connecting bridge between the cards. It can be included in the kit for both the motherboard and the video card.

Step 5

If necessary, connect additional power to the installed video card, check the connection again and close the case. Turn on the computer and check if the configuration has been updated in the video card control panel.
