Windows Vista was the first system from Microsoft to receive gadget support. A special section of the operating system is used to perform operations for managing various functional applets and enabling them. Vista uses a separate sidebar to display items.
Instructions
Step 1
The Vista Sidebar contains several gadgets that can help you view the status of your computer and memory usage, see the weather forecast, news, or launch all kinds of mini-games. The standard kit contains several gadgets that can be added via a Microsoft server on the Internet.
Step 2
To enable applets, go to the system section "Start" - "All Programs" - "Accessories" - "Windows Sidebar". You can open the panel using the special icon in the system notification area. Also, the gadgets panel can be launched by pressing the Win and G keys on the keyboard.
Step 3
Items placed on the panel can be dragged and resized. Each applet can be moved from the panel to a free area of the desktop for easier access. After transferring the desired gadget, you can hide the sidebar by clicking on the corresponding icon at the top of the window, while the copied application will remain on the desktop.
Step 4
To close the panel, right-click the Windows Sidebar icon in the notification area at the bottom right of the screen. In the context menu that appears, click the "Exit" option. This operation will close all working gadgets and remove the panel from the desktop.
Step 5
To add an item to the sidebar, right-click on it and then click Add Widget. Also, adding can be carried out using the corresponding icon in the upper right part of the screen. In the opened collection of gadgets, you can select the applet you need by double-clicking on it.
Step 6
To download new gadgets, go to Widgets Gallery and select Find Online. To search for a suitable applet, you can use the search bar located in the upper right part of the window.
