Instructions
Step 1
To reset the hard drive, you need the Norton Disk Editor program. Install on your computer and run the program. After launching it, select Object in the upper right corner. In the drop-down menu, click on the Drive parameter. An additional program window will appear, in which there is a Type section. Check the Physical disc component in this section, and then click OK. The additional window will close.
Step 2
Now select Tools from the program menu. In the menu that opens, click on the Configuration option. An additional window will appear again. In this window, uncheck the box next to the Read-only parameter. Then save the parameters by clicking Save at the bottom of the window. The additional window will close. A window will appear notifying you that the settings have been saved. Click OK.
Step 3
After that, you will again find yourself in the main menu. Press CTRL + B. You will see a list of hard disk sectors in the program window. Next, at the top of this window, find the Sector line. Hold down the left mouse button and start selecting sectors, starting from the very first sector, which is located immediately below the Sector line. All sectors do not need to be selected (at least 65 sectors). When you finish the procedure, the number of sectors will be displayed in the lower left corner of the program window.
Step 4
After the sectors are selected, in the program menu, click on the Edit parameter. Then select Fill from the menu that appears. In the window that appears, find the Dec Hex Char section. Below the row is a column with values. In this column, select the value "0" and click OK. You will see that all sectors are now 0. Your hard drive is now zeroed.
