Many people need to split the hard drive into several sections. It is more convenient for someone to store games and movies in different places, someone needs to close the partition from prying eyes and protect it with a password, so the question of how to divide the hard drive into several areas may sometimes arise.

Instructions

Step 1

Partitioning a disk is possible with a huge variety of programs that are very easy to find on the Internet. Let's take the first one we come across, for example the EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition. The advantages of this program are its small size and free of charge, but otherwise it can do exactly the same thing as its more bulky and expensive counterparts (well, maybe with a few exceptions). You can download it from the manufacturer's website https://www.partition-tool.com/download.htm. Click on the Download from Download.com link under the Home Edition version and save it to your hard drive

Step 2

Run the installer and follow the instructions. After installation, the program will start. Click on the Go to main screen button. Your hard drives appear in front of you. Right click on the partition you want to partition and choose Resize / Move Partition.

Step 3

Here in the Partition size line, enter the size of the first part of your disk and click OK. You will see that an unallocated area appears after the disk, which is designated as Unallocated. Right-click on it and select Create partition. You can specify the name of the new disk in the Partition Label line and specify the required size if you want to split the remaining space into several more parts. Click OK.

Step 4

In order to apply the changes, click on the Apply button in the upper left corner of the screen. If you don't, no change will occur. Wait for the program to finish and restart your computer if necessary.
