For some operations, the size of virtual memory (paging file) offered by the operating system is insufficient. Sometimes it is also useful to fix its size to optimize the overall system performance. You can do this in a few simple steps.
Instructions
Step 1
Move the mouse cursor over the "My Computer" icon and press the right key.
Step 2
In the drop-down menu, click on the "Properties" item.
Step 3
Select the "advanced" tab (for Windows Vista and 7 - "advanced system settings" on the left side of the window).
Step 4
Click the Options button in the Performance section.
Step 5
In the window that appears, select the "Advanced" tab.
Step 6
In the "Virtual Memory" section, click on the "Change" button.
Step 7
Uncheck the box "automatically select the size of the paging file", set the desired size and location of the paging file, click "Set", and then - "OK".
