The Microsoft Office Word word processor, like all other applications in this office suite, is very tightly integrated with the Windows operating system. This allows you to use not only its own functions, but also the capabilities of other system and application programs. The operation of inserting photos and other images into Word documents is no exception.

Instructions

Step 1

Start the word processor and open the document in which you want to place the photo. Place the insertion cursor at the insertion point of the image.

Step 2

If you have saved a photo to your computer or opened an external device in Windows Explorer - a digital camera, mobile phone, flash drive - on which a file with a photo is stored, then use the file manager to insert it. For example, copy a file - right-click it and select this function from the pop-up context menu. Or press the key combination Ctrl + C, having previously selected the file. Then switch to the Word window with an open document and paste the copied photo by pressing the Ctrl + V keyboard shortcut. You can also do this through the context menu: right-click the insertion point and select "Paste".

Step 3

If the photo is open in any graphics viewer - native Windows viewer, popular ACDSee, free FastStone, etc. - use the copy operation built into this application. Click on the image with the right mouse button and select the "Copy" or "Copy Image" command. Then switch to the Word window and paste the contents of the clipboard.

Step 4

When editing a photo in any graphic editor, it is not necessary to save it to a file, and use it as an intermediate link for insertion into a Word document. Select the entire image (Ctrl + A) and copy to the clipboard (Ctrl + C). After that, paste the picture into a document open in a word processor (Ctrl + V).

Step 5

Photos posted on the Internet can also be placed in a document using the capabilities of the browser. In the context menu, which opens by right-clicking on a photo in a web page, there is also a "Copy" command - select it. Then switch to the Word window and use the operation to paste the contents of the clipboard. Some of the photos can be simply dragged from the browser window into the Word document window.

Step 6

The native image insertion mechanism of the word processor is launched from the menu of this application. On the "Insert" tab, click on the "Picture" button in the "Illustrations" group of commands, and a search window for the required file will appear on the screen. After finding, select the photo file and click the "Insert" button.
