Unfortunately, a PC user does not always have the opportunity to connect an old video set-top box to a TV and play games that he has loved since childhood. In such cases, an emulator comes to the rescue, which allows you to run almost any game on your computer.
Instructions
Step 1
The easiest way to emulate games is for 16- and 32-bit consoles. People's "Dendy" and "Sega" are infinitely behind modern PCs technologically, so they work absolutely stably. The easiest way to launch them is to download the archive "2000 games for Dendy with an emulator" from the Internet. Such an archive contains many files of an extension unknown to the system and a certain program (for example, "Nester"). The user is required to run the proposed software, set the control settings (they are not defined by default), and select the "File-open" tab. After that, in the folder with games you need to find the file with the desired name ("Battletoads", for example) and run.
Step 2
Emulation of the first generation set-top boxes does not cause problems. These include PS, PSP and Xbox, i.e. first consoles with 3D graphics. To start the game from them, it will take a little more effort: after downloading the disk image of a specific game and the program to run it, you will have to connect some more set of emulation plugins. To avoid this process, it is worth downloading the "Game + emulator" assemblies, in which the program parameters are set by default to launch the proposed game. Thanks to this "individual" approach, it turns out to achieve high FPS and stable operation of games.
Step 3
Emulating newer consoles is a thankless task. Games from PS2 and Gamecube are difficult to run on PC, and the battle is literally every frame per second. The system used is the same as for the first generation of consoles, but the selection of plugins becomes a much more complicated process, depending also on the characteristics of a particular computer. Because of this, even "ready-made" assemblies do not always work correctly, producing from 140 to 30% of the standard speed on different machines.
Step 4
Emulating games from Xbox360 and PS3 is almost useless. There are no decent programs for emulation, and it is not expected in the next few years, which is quite logical, given the impossibility of playing stably even games from the "previous generation of consoles".
