Extra space marks not only visually spoil the finished text, but also betray the author's unprofessionalism. Most often, such texts are not created, but downloaded from the Internet as abstracts, term papers, etc. Removing each extra space manually is time consuming and energy consuming, but you can take advantage of automatic removal.

Instructions

Step 1

Select all text that has incorrect spaces and tabs at the beginning and end of lines. One of the reasons for extra spaces is when the user replaces the indent and red line with multiple spaces. In order to avoid such a problem, it is recommended to select "Indent" in the "Indent / First Line" line on the "Indents and Spacing" tab in the "Format / Paragraph" menu. The default value for indentation is 1.27 cm.

Step 2

Set the alignment to the center - this will remove spaces. Now you can set the desired alignment, the changes will be saved (width alignment is considered the standard alignment).

Step 3

Pay attention to the alignment methods for different parts of the text (headings are centered, epigraphs are right). If there is such a need, then it is worth using the replacement of a space with a paragraph mark. To do this, enter a space (press the space bar) in the "Find" line in the "Edit / Replace" menu. Call the dialog box by clicking the "More" button. Click the "Special" button in the new window and select "Paragraph Mark" from the menu. After that, the text "^ p" will appear in the "Find" line. This is a paragraph mark. Insert this paragraph mark "^ p" in the "Replace With" line and click the "Replace All" button.

Step 4

Press the CTRL and H keys at the same time. This keyboard shortcut brings up the Find and Replace window.

Step 5

Enter two spaces (press the space bar twice) in the "Find" line. Enter a space character (press the space bar) in the "Replace with" line. This action will replace every two spaces with one standard space.

Step 6

Click the Replace All button.

Step 7

Check the number of replacements made by the text editor. When this number becomes zero, all double spaces will be removed.
