There are many ways to format your hard drive before loading the operating system. Unfortunately, most of them require specific drives or USB sticks.

Step 1
If you have a disk containing the installation files of Windows XP, Vista or Seven, then use it to carry out the process of formatting the hard disk. Insert this disc into your DVD drive and turn on your computer. Press the Delete key to open the BIOS menu. Now go to the Boot Device Priority menu. Find First Boot Device, press Enter and select the desired DVD drive.
Step 2
Restart your computer by pressing the F10 key. After a while, the message Press any key to boot from CD appears on the screen. To continue booting from the installed disk, press any key on the keyboard. If you are using a disk with the operating system Windows XP, then follow the menu of the running program until a blue window appears, containing three options for continuing work. Press the R key to open the Recovery Console.
Step 3
After a while, the command line will open. Enter the command list disk and press the Enter key. This is required to view the connected hard drives. Now enter the command select disk 1 to select the first hard drive. Type list partition. The system will display a list of existing partitions. Find out which one you need to format, and enter the command format T G. In this case, G is the letter of the corresponding section. Wait for the formatting process to complete and restart your computer.
Step 4
If you are using disks of Windows Vista or Seven operating systems, then after starting the installation program, wait for the menu containing the item "Advanced recovery options" to appear. Open it and select the Windows Command Prompt option. Repeat the steps in the third step to format the desired hard disk partition. Remember that you can use any disks with which you can access the command line.
