In the process of using a personal computer, a considerable amount of software is installed into it for work, entertainment and maintenance of the computer itself. Most of these programs one day cease to be necessary, and sooner or later the question of removing them arises in order to free up space for programs and files that are relevant today.

Instructions

Step 1

Use the uninstaller, which in most cases is installed on your computer along with the application. To do this, open the main menu on the "Start" button, go to the "Programs" section and find the directory with the name of the software product to be removed. Move the cursor over this section and you will see a line beginning with the word "Uninstall …" or Uninstall … - this is the link to the program's uninstaller. Click it, and then follow the instructions that the uninstaller will give as it runs.

Step 2

If the main menu does not have a section related to this program, or there is no uninstall link in it, then look for the uninstaller in the folder where this program was installed. To do this, open Windows Explorer by double-clicking the My Computer shortcut or by pressing the WIN + E keys. In Explorer, navigate to the desired folder. First of all, you should look for it in a directory called Program Files on the system disk of your OS - as a rule, programs are installed there.

Step 3

Find and run a file called uninstall.exe in the program folder - this is usually the name of the uninstaller. Then follow the instructions of the uninstaller. Some programs do not enter information about their installation in the system registry and do not use uninstallers at all. In this case, it will be enough to simply delete the folder along with its contents. This must be done when the program is closed.

Step 4

Another removal method uses a special component of the operating system. To start it, open the menu on the "Start" button and select "Control Panel". If you are using Windows XP, then look for it in the "Settings" section.

Step 5

Find and click the "Uninstall a program" link in the Control Panel under "Programs" (in Windows XP - "Add or Remove Programs"). In this way, you will run the uninstallation wizard, which will take a few seconds to collect information about the applications installed on the system in the Windows registry.

Step 6

Find the line with the name of the required program in the list and click it. To start the uninstallation procedure, depending on the version of the operating system used, you must either click the "Delete" button, or right-click this line and select the "Delete" item. After that, the uninstaller will start working, and you will need to follow the instructions that it will issue.
